TumugonBurahinAs a resident of the same company I can say that those facts are true and no doubt that they gave us a better living. Kudos to you Ms. Karol Ann. Godbless you. :)
#YestoResponsibleMining
TumugonBurahinYeaahh!! That's why as a citizen living and benefiting in the said company, we should at least know how to support our institution (the mining company) as it helps us a lot in the different aspects of our lives. This is also a way to pay back to all those benefits we've gotten..
TumugonBurahinBeing a part of a mining community is really a great thing. The benefits we had and we will have is very satisfying. And that is all because of responsible mining. Loud and proud! 💚
TumugonBurahinAbolishing the mining industry is not the solution in addressing the problems linked to it. There are a lot of proactive measures to counter these problems like strengthening environmental policies and its strict enforcement; end under the table transactions that illegally allow non-compliant companies; equitable revenue schemes; ensuring the implementation of corporate social responsibilities; shut down illegal and irresponsible mining and many more. If illegal mining proliferate in PH, then the integrity and competence of the government are in question. Reform should not only start in the mining industry, but also in the government agency who has a mandate in mining by eliminating all forms of corruption and personal interests.
TumugonBurahinYes, it is true that the end doesn’t justify the means, that is why the responsible mining companies laid strong measures not to compromise the community and the environment while extracting the valuable natural resources. Responsible mining companies should be distinguished from the irresponsible ones and not generalizing the whole industry.
If banning the mining is your only option, remember that we the professionals are not the most vulnerable not even the businessmen and investors because they are rich enough to invest/venture into other business. It will be the rank and file “mineros” who worked hard for their family; the far-flung communities who were not reached by the government services and is now progressive because of the livelihood, infrastructures and services provided by the operating mining company; the students who were scholars of the mining companies and many more will become the immediate casualties. The downstream effect of it on the microeconomic and macroeconomic level in the Philippines will be felt sooner or later once it will be implemented.
To the incoming DENR Secretary if you cannot advocate responsible mining at least you could have advocated responsible, fair and relevant journalism/media. We are not interested with news about bimby stung by jellyfish. And it is not only Department of Environment that you will govern, there is “and Natural Resources” on it. I hope you will see the gains brought by the mining sector not just in the PH economy, but also in the lives of many ordinary mineros who makes a living out of it. Praying for your enlightenment!
